 Job Announcement: Certified Police Officer – Lateral Entry
Crofton Police Department – Crofton, Maryland

The Crofton Police Department is now accepting applications for Maryland Certified Police Officers who are currently certified or previously certified through the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commission (MPCTC).
Certification must be in compliance with current MPCTC guidelines.

 Position Overview:

We are seeking professional, experienced, and community-focused officers to join our agency. Applicants should demonstrate integrity, strong work ethic, and a commitment to serving the residents of Crofton.

 Compensation and Benefits:

  • Starting Salary:

    • $64,661.94 – Officers with less than 8 years of experience

    • $69,927.75 – Officers with 8 or more years of experience

  • Additional Benefits:

    • Annual Performance Bonus

    • S.E.P. Retirement Plan

    • $3,000 Retention Bonus (after one year of service)

    • Vehicle Allowance: $150 paid bi-weekly ($3900)

    • Additional 40 Hours Vacation Leave (after completion of FTO)

    • 12 Holidays Per Year

  • Promotional Opportunity:

    • Applicants with 8 or more years of certified law enforcement experience will be promoted to the rank of Corporal after 90 days of satisfactory performance evaluation.

 

 

 Conditions of Employment:

  • All applicants will be subject to a one-year probationary period, regardless of experience level.

  • Must hold current or prior MPCTC police certification

  • Must have separated in good standing from a Maryland law enforcement agency within the last three (3) years

 Selection Process:

Applicants will be evaluated through the following process:

  • Law Enforcement Experience / Education Review

  • Chief’s Interview

  • Background Investigation

  • Polygraph Examination

  • Psychological Evaluation

  • Medical Examination
